Cristiano Ronaldo tells Zinedine Zidane he wants transfer amid links to Manchester United and Chelsea

Zinedine Zidane begged Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Real Madrid in a recent personal plea to the attacker over the phone, reports say.

But Ronaldo reiterated his desire to leave Spain and told his manager that his decision was final amid reports Manchester United and Chelsea want to bring him back to England.

Spanish Radio Cope claim Zidane spoke to Ronaldo directly after reports emerged he had told Real he wants a summer exit.

Ronaldo is reportedly furious at allegations he has committed tax fraud and has been upset by the lack of backing he has received from the club.

Spanish authorities will now determine whether Ronaldo is guilty or not, but the superstar expected much more support from within Spain.

Ronaldo was a key part of Zidane’s Champions League and La Liga title winning squad last season and remains the most consistent source of goals.

Zidane does not want to see his best player walk away, but the Frenchman has been rebuked in his attempts to convince Ronaldo to stay.

Ronaldo reportedly told Zidane he feels like he his being treated like a ‘delinquent’ and hit out at the media coverage of the tax investigation.

The Portugal international is in Russia at the Confederations Cup and agreed to speak to Zidane again once the tournament is over.

Ronaldo has not received any concrete offers from other clubs with the Confederations Cup set to come to an end on July 2.

A return to Old Trafford has been heavily mooted in recent days with United thought to be keen on re-signing Ronaldo.
