Gunmen kidnapped DPO, 3 policemen, kill two in Zamfara

Four policemen including DPO of Keta divisional police station of Tsafe local government area in Zamfara state were reported to have been kidnapped by the unknown persons suspected to be armed bandits and carted away weapons belonging to the police station.



Narrating the incident to New Telegraph, a residence of Kwarin Ganuwa village Malam Abdullahi who narrowly escaped from the hands of gunmen said, he was shocked when at about 1:30 pm today suddenly saw about 100 number of armed bandits well armed and ambushed the town of Kwaring Ganuwa.

He explained that the armed bandits while operating the town of Kwarin Ganuwa before proceeding to Keta to kidnapped 4 policemen including the DPO, also raided the district head of Kwaring Ganuwa house in an attempt to kidnapped him, could not get him but has kidnapped one person and forcefully seized away numbers of GSM handset from the people of the town.

Also narrating the incident at Keta town and how they go away with four policemen including the DPO, Ibrahim Musa Keta said when the people who were well armed entered the town of Keta, they went straight to police station while shooting sporadically and later disarmed all the policemen on duty and carted away most of the weapons of the police station.

According Musa who also escaped from the work of the armed bandits, also said two persons were instantly killed during operation, adding that the two persons refused to hands down their GSM handset demanded and were shot dead.

All effort to meet the Police Public Relation Officer of the state Police Command DSP Shehu Muhammed, failed abortive as all his GSM lines remained switched off as at the time of filing this report.
