Dangote Group, others to fund reconstruction of Apapa-Wharf road

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola on Saturday signed a N4.34 Billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dangote Group and other stakeholders for the reconstruction of Apapa Wharf Road.

The project is to be funded by AG Dangote Construction Company Ltd, an arm of the Dangote Group, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Flour Mills of Nigeria.

Stop Beating Drums of War – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has admonished those beating drums of war through hate speeches and divisive statements to desist in the interest of the nation’s unity and safety.

Outrage over ‘Free Evans campaign’


A Twitter campaign begging for mercy for the arrested kidnap baron, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, alias Evans sparked outrage from Nigerians today, with some calling the masterminds, mad.

The campaign with the hashtag #FreeEvans   followed an interview granted the Vanguard newspaper by Uchenna Precious Onwuamadike, the Ghana based Evans wife, in which the woman pleaded for a second chance for a man she had married for 14 years. She also asked for forgiveness for the  family.

Richard Bunt, 33, was on holiday with close friends and family in Krakow, Poland when he fell out of an electric vehicle and cracked his head.

He suffered a severe bleed on the brain and later passed away in the city’s hospital five days later.

The army on Saturday confirmed the arrest of a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Aliyu Ahmed, alias “Aliko”.

The army spokesman, Sani Usman, said in the statement that “Aliko” was arrested on Friday by troops of 33 Brigade following a tip-off in Yuga village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where he has been in hiding.
