Biafra groups forge common force, make Nnamdi Kanu overall leader

Seven pro-Biafra groups Wednesday  agreed to work together under the leaders of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), with the aim of achieving faster the their quest for a referendum that will lead to the emancipation of Republic of Biafra.
The groups said that they decided to work together so that they would be speaking with one voice seeking for one objective of securing the Republic of Biafra.

Evans sues IGP over failure to arraign him



Suspected kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a. Evans, has sued the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, at the Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged violation of his fundamental rights.

He is praying the court to compel the police to charge him rather than detaining him indefinitely.

Nigeria begins yam export to UK Thursday

Nigeria will on Thursday begin yam exports to the United Kingdom with 72 tons of yams in three containers, the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh said.

He said the matter was tabled at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday as a major milestone in the export market and diversification process.

Gunmen shoot top EFCC investigator

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has said that one of its top investigators, was shot by unknown gunmen in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

A statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said the investigator, Mr. Austin Okwor, who is attached to the Property Fraud Section of the EFCC Zonal Office in Port-Harcourt, was involved in the investigation of high-profile cases, including those involving some judicial officers.

Kenya 1st in Africa to use latest generic AIDS drug

Kenya is the first country in Africa to introduce a generic version of the current drug of choice for people living with HIV, officials said Wednesday.

Kenya's government and the global health initiative Unitaid announced that the East African nation will make the generic version of dolutegravir available for routine use. They said Nigeria and Uganda will introduce the drug later this year.

The case was one of several explosions reported earlier this year, when adulterated kerosene flooded Calabar.
